Another year has gone by as we welcome the year 2006. Viracocha has once again enjoyed success in the 2005 show season being awarded the 2005 Tasmanian Huacaya Of the Year, Two Supreme Championships, 4 Championships, 1 Reserve Championship, two Best Browns and 1 Best Black. Success at 2005 Royal Melbourne Show Firstly came the 2005 Royal Melbourne Show where we were awarded 1st Junior Black Suri Female with Viracocha Contessa and 2nd Junior Brown Male Huacaya with Viracocha Challenger. These results were no easy task at one of the biggest shows in the country proving once again that we are breeding some of the best black and coloured alpacas in Australia. Viracocha Contessa is a stunning suri female that has now been mated to Multiple Supreme Champion Wyterrica Marcel. We have no doubt that she will go on to produce another show winner and make us proud. Burnie Show Next on the show circuit was the Burnie Show with over 140 entries judged by well respected AAA Judge Wendy Billington. Once again the competition was strong with studs from Victoria being represented. Lyra Appia our Medium Fawn Stud Sire was awarded Supreme Champion against progeny from Jolimont Warrior and Windsong Valley Iceman to name a few. The biggest sense of acheivement was that Lyra Appia was awarded Supreme Champion over Coricancha Aurellano who went on to be awarded Reserve Junior Champion Male at the 2005 AAA National Show. Viracocha Witchcraft was awarded 1st Junior Black Female in a class of 9 and Viracocha Challenger was awarded 1st Junior Brown Male and Best Brown, what a result! |

Next came the 2005 Peruvian Connection the first Best Of Colour Show held in Tasmania judged by Peruvian Judge Monyka Portocarero. Monyka awarded Lyra Appia Best Fawn and Viracocha Challenger was Highly Commended. Monyka's comments were that Lyra Appia was everything she wanted to see in a stud male and that Viracocha Challenger was very true to type and had the type of head they strive to breed for in Peru. Royal Launceston & Royal Hobart Show We then attended the Royal Launceston Show judged by Allan Jinks. Viracocha again had another successful show taking home Champion Senior Male and Best Fawn with Lyra Appia, 1st Junior Brown Male and Best Brown with Viracocha Challenger, 1st Junior Black Female with Viracocha Witchcraft, Intermediate Champion Female with Viracocha Andean Empress and 2nd Junior Female suri All Other Colours with Viracocha Contessa. Allan was impressed with the fineness of our blacks and his comments reflected this throughout the black classes. Finally we took the trip down to the Royal Hobart Show to parade our alpacas in front of International Judge Lynn Dickson with apprentice judge Angela Pruess. The four day show was a long haul but was well worth the effort We couldn't have asked for a better end to the show season taking home Supreme Champion with Lyra Appia, Reserve Junior Champion Female with Viracocha Witchcraft and 1st Junior Black Suri Female with Viracocha Contessa. |

Dominic has been very busy during the 2005 show season being invited to judge throughout Australia and the United Kingdom. Some of the shows within Australia were Alpaca Fest in Victoria, one of the largest shows within the region and Flora Fest in NSW. The quality of the exhibits at the shows was outstanding and it is becoming more of a challenge at each and every show. Dominic had the honour of being asked to judge the 2005 Royal Bath and West Show which is the largest alpaca show in Europe. During the judging Dominic had the privilage to judge stock bred in England and imports from Australia and Peru. Next on the list is the 2006 Royal Auckland Show in New Zealand a show which Dominic is greatly looking forward to judging. |
